Most patients describe it as a brief sharp pinch, lasting about 1 to 2 seconds. Our nurses are experienced at minimising discomfort — they choose the best vein, use an appropriate-sized needle, and draw smoothly. The draw itself takes 30 to 60 seconds total. If you have difficult veins, or have fainted with blood draws before, let us know — we can use a smaller needle (paediatric butterfly), recline you flat during the draw, warm the arm first, or use distraction techniques. Sometimes the next step is simply repeating the test in a few weeks; sometimes it's a more specific follow-up test; rarely, it's a specialist referral. Yes. If you have a test request form from your specialist, GP, or company panel doctor, walk in with the form and our nurse will draw the sample for processing at the requested lab.
